Mains Intake Switch Room

Overview:

Client: John Lewis & Partners

Location: London Victoria

Project Details: Main intake switch room was long overdue an upgrade. The original main intake switch gear was installed over 40 years ago & since then technology moved on. Also as technology progresses so does health & safety, the original switch gear was safe until you removed the panels so maintaining the switch gear needed to be isolated everytime before removing panels. Causing the building to shut down for the day which is not ideal.

The newly designed & installed main intake switch gear now provides a much more maintenance friendly system. Meaning no shutting down the building to maintain the switch gear. The upgrade also allowed the client to add the main intake switch gear to the BMS (building management system) so they can now overview how the system is operating from a desktop.

The two main intake switch rooms were carried out over several weekends to limited the amount of down time to the buildings day to day operations. Allowances were made in case any issues arose with not being able to re energize the building for each Monday. A diesel generator was hired to ensure that if the works were not completed then a back up supply was on site ready to be used, This was not required as the works were completed on time.
