Last summer, the government’s air pollution strategy included a pledge that the sale of all petrol and diesel vehicles would be banned by 2040. This basically means electric vehicles (EVs) are the future, and it’s only a matter of time before we all invest.
But why should we? Well for starters they’re clean, they’re green and they’re cheap to run – this is no time to stay in the slow lane
Halogen light bulbs cost the UK an estimated £2.4 billion every year according to the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA). And they’re not good news for the environment either. In recognition of that, an EU-wide ban on producing energy intensive halogen bulbs for sale or import came into force on 1st September.
But halogen lamp ban aside, this is about money saving and reducing your energy bills. They are costing you money that you could be spending on something far more interesting than lightbulbs. Beer. A car. Diamonds. You get the idea.
The BS7671 regulations have changed and you need to be up to speed.
In July the 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS7671) were published. They don’t come into effect until January, but you must be aware of exactly what they mean for you and your business well ahead of time.
